1.Background
Mobile learning has been a key project in the collaboration between BRCF and UNESCO.
Currently, China is still faced with education issues such as inequity in resources, lack of facilities in remote or impoverished areas, and lack of competencies in some teachers. Take English subject as an example, in better-off regions in China, English classes are taught by professionals and even foreign teachers, and that would give the students an edge in learning. However, due to lack of facilities and qualified faculties in impoverished areas, some students obtained “dumb English” or test-oriented English, and some even avoided English classes. Moreover, it happens with other subjects as well.
2.Purpose of the Program
This program aims at providing quality education resources such as mobile learning devices and education technology so as to promote education development and equity.
3.Program Scheme
Through this program, satellite classrooms will be built and equipped in poor areas via charity support, so that advanced education resources can be delivered to those areas. Through efforts in teacher training, academic conferences and project research, concepts and philosophies of mobile learning are becoming more and more popular in these areas.
4.Program Achievement
- In September 2017, the Program was established, and started social fundraising.
- In October 2017, BRCF entered an agreement to fund the construction of satellite classrooms in Jinggangshan Middle School.
- In January 2018, satellite classrooms in Jinggangshan Middle School were put to use, and an Opening Ceremony was held.
- In June 2019, BRCF went to Xichang, Huili and Puge in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province for field research.
- In July 2019, BRCF went to Yushu, Qinghai Province for field research.
- In August 2019, BRCF entered an agreement to fund the construction of satellite classrooms in Yushu No. 3 Nationality School, Qinghai Province.
- In January 2020, BRCF started to fund the construction for a satellite classroom in Xichang Minzu Preschool Normal College , Sichuan Province.
